Lecture and Masterclass on Thinking about Liberal Faith with Willem B. Drees

On 24 March 2023, De Vrijzinnige Lezing (The Liberal Lecture) will take place in Utrecht with Professor dr. Willem B. Drees, titled “Agnostisch én religieus? Vrijzinnig geloof in het licht van de godsdienstwijsbegeerte”(“Agnostic and Religious? Liberal Faith in Light of Philosophy of Religion”). Drees will address the tension between reason and faith, a topic which was always central to the work of the Leiden philosophers of religion. Their aim was always to fully participate in critical scientific discourse, while honoring the uniqueness of religion.

Professor dr. Rick Benjamins is organizing a masterclass by Drees under the auspices of NOSTER for PhD candidates and ReMA students. The masterclass which will dig deeper into the work of the Leiden philosophers of religion on the themes of liberal Christology and Christian humanism. Participation in this masterclass and the liberal lecture is credited with 1 EC. The event includes a free meal.
