As a PhD candidate the scale of the coursework you need to complete at one (or more) research schools in the Humanities is determined by your own institution. As far as NOSTER is concerned, you are free to decide which NOSTER curriculum events you wish to participate in.
However, you can also opt to follow the NOSTER PhD Study Programme (15 EC). Those who have completed this programme have developed substantial knowledge of and insight in key methods, perspectives and challenges in the research field of theology and religious studies and have developed a network of junior (and senior) scholars in the field of theology and religious studies in the Low Countries. In principle, this study programme includes at least the following compulsory elements:
1. Participation in a Research Seminar or Text Reading Seminar for one year;
2. Participation in a Research Seminar or Text Reading Seminar for a second year or participation in a Grand Course or a Must-Have-Read;
3. Participation in at least three Kick-Offs and/or Midyear Meetings;
4. Participation in two Spring Conferences (including at least one presentation).
You can request the NOSTER PhD Study Programme Certificate from the NOSTER office after completing the NOSTER PhD Study Programme.
You can request the NOSTER Record of Courses Completed from the NOSTER office if you require an official record of all the courses you have taken at NOSTER and any grades you have received. You can forward this record to the programme administration of your own institution so that they can award you ECs.
These requirements apply to all NOSTER Members registered on or after 1 September 2020. Have you joined NOSTER before 1 September 2020? Please see the document in the right hand side column.
