Course description: This intensive text reading seminar aims to explore formative texts for the interdisciplinary study of religion within the humanities and the qualitative and conceptual studies in the social sciences, in particular from gender-critical, postcolonial, and post-secular perspectives. It focuses on the multiple and changing manifestations of religion in diverse social and cultural contexts, and it investigates religion from the intersection of feminist, sexuality, queer, masculinity and diversity studies.
Course objectives: The course aims at supporting the participants during their research by introducing them to current issues of scholarly debate and by developing their research skills through participation in expert meetings.

Teaching methods: Reading assignments, short lectures, presentations, responses and discussions.
Assessment methods: Participants should actively participate, should be present for at least 75% of the time and should reflect on what they have learned by filling in NOSTER PRA Form Seminars 2020-2021. Note that the first section of the form needs to be submitted prior to or shortly after the first session.
Admission: This seminar is open for all ReMA students and PhD candidates.

(As long as governmental and institutional measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 do not prohibit in-person meetings such as NOSTER seminar sessions, NOSTER recommends seminar supervisors to plan at least some of their sessions on site, as this contributes significantly to the objective of building an academic community. However, it is up to seminar supervisors and participants to decide to meet plan some or all sessions online.)
